healthy LiFE + fabulos STYLE = glamrock LiFESTYLE

Month of nutrition, July that is. This year, 2009 we are celebrating the 35th Year Anniversary of Nutrition month.

We always hear the words "healthy lifestyle", but doesn't really know the factors in considering it or doesn't even know what healthy lifestyle means.

A healthy lifestyle goes beyond balanced diets and exercises. In fact, it is a total way of life, encompassing the physical, mental and emotional aspects.


The most obvious proof of a healthy body and to own one, we must first eat right. The principle of healthy eating is simple. Enjoy a wide variety of foods. Treat yourself to lots of fruits and vegetables gain vitamins, minerals and fiber. Based from what I have
researched, it shows that these foods may keep certain cancers and heart diseases at bay. Boost your energy with carbohydrates such as cereals, bread and rice.
Consume adequate proteins like milk, meats and legumes, especially for children and adolescents.

Good food must be aided by good eating habits to generate positive healthy benefits. So, make simple adjustments like eating moderately to maintain your ideal body weight, observing breakfast, having regular meals, reducing salt and sugar intake as well as drinking plenty of water.

But please,before we make excuses, ask yourself these questions. Do you want a fit heart, efficient lungs, strong muscles and a svelte figure? More stamina? Or perhaps, improved cholesterol levels? If you answered "Yes", start exercising for about 30 minutes, thrice a week. Exercise does not need to be grueling. Walking, swimming and cycling are excellent. Just to avoid injuries, lets just not take sensible precaution.

another factor to consider in our quest for a healthy lifestyle is overcoming stress. Though minor stresses are acceptable, as they stimulate us towards better performance. But, excessive stress can turn life into an emergency and damage health. Let's try to have a positive outlook in life, realistic goals, having caring friends and relatives for us to share problems with, get as much rest as we could, and have enough sleep.

also involves in my vocabulary towards healthy lifestyle is keeping ourselves away from alcoholism and drug abuse. We all know it harms us, gravely. big deal. It leads to heavy diseases like cancer, heart attack, stroke and dude, it also affects the brain.

so we still long to have more more years to our lives, lets all start a healthy lifestyle today.
